Trademark Registration Completes Transition to Online Application and Payment Service (2017-11)

Per announcement from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce on November 23, 2017, the reform aimed at expediting the trademark registration process has been carried out for over a year.  Its services, which include the online application, online inquiry, online announcement and online payment of trademark registration, have been expanded to 23 categories.  From January to October of 2017, there were 4.413 million trademark applications, 722,000 more than the 3.691,000 applications last year. Among them, 3.771 million were submitted online, accounting for 85.45% of the applications received. In addition, the trademark stipulation fees have been curtailed by 50%, effectively reducing the operating costs of enterprises.
