CNIPA Adjusts its Organizational Structure (2019-02)
China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) issued an announcement (http://www.cnipa.gov.cn/zfgg/1135993.htm) on changing the business chapter and related forms on February 14, 2019.
The former Patent Reexamination Board of CNIPA merged into CNIPA. The former Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board, and the Trademark Examination Cooperation Center are integrated into the Trademark Office of CNIPA. The Patent Reexamination Board, the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board and Trademark Examination Cooperation Center have ceased operation.
After the organizational adjustments, patent and trademark examination would be carried out in the name of CNIPA. The name of the former Patent Reexamination Board, the original trademark office, Trademark Review and Adjudication Board, Trademark Examination Cooperation Center of SAIC would no longer be used. Their business seals will cease to be used and new business seals will start to be used uniformly.
Request forms, outgoing forms and notifications involved in patent and trademark examination will now use the name of CNIPA in place of the patent office, the trademark office, the Patent Reexamination Board and the Trademark Examination Cooperation Center, respectively. New business seal and request forms will be activated on April 1, 2019, at which time old business seal and request type of forms will become invalid.
