China’s Possession of Effective Invention Patent Ranked in Top Three in the World (Sep-2016)

The 2016 patent information annual conference of China was held on September 19~20 in Beijing.

Mr. Shen Changyu, Director of the State Intellectual Property Office, revealed in his speech at the conference that after development of many years, China has accumulated rich intellectual property resources, especially in field of patents, realizing the important breakthrough of “two one million cases”. Firstly, realizing the new breakthrough of one million annual patent invention applications, China’s annual patent invention applications rose to 1.102 million cases last year, which were ranked first in the world in five consecutive years. Secondly, realizing the breakthrough of one million domestic possession of effective invention patents to be the third country in the world after U.S. and Japan having a domestic possession of effective invention patents over a million cases.
